Mattel Has Come Out with a Game Developer Barbie!

Hey everyone!

Barbie® Careers Game Developer Doll - Shop.Mattel.com

Mattel has come out with a new Game Developer Barbie doll!

In 2010, Mattel came out with a Computer Engineer Barbie. In the book Barbie: I Can Be a Computer Engineer, Barbie was very bad at computer engineering and needed boys to help her game design and take a virus off both Barbie's and Skipper's, her younger sister, computers.

An outrage of disappointment broke out over this book, especially among the women in technology fields.

Computer Engineer Barbie is no longer available. They now have Game Developer Barbie!

Here is Mattel's description of Game Developer Barbie:

Honored as a career of the year, young techies can play out the creative fun of this exciting profession.
Barbie® doll looks casually cool in an industry-inspired outfit.
Her t-shirt breaks the fashion code with a hip graphic; faded denim pants are tech trendy; a green jacket is fashion-forward with sleeves rolled up; and white sneakers.
Vibrant red hair and bright matching glasses complete the authentic look.
A laptop (with real game code graphics), tablet (with the game she is working on) and silvery headset expand the storytelling possibilities and career opportunities.
Inspire young gamers with this doll who is at the top of her game!
  • Open young techies to the world of game development with the Barbie® game developer doll!
  • She wears an industry-inspired outfit with graphic decal t-shirt, faded denim pants, a dark green jacket and white sneakers.
  • Bright red hair and eyeglasses are fashion-forward with techie style!
  • Accessories -- a laptop, a tablet with picture of a game showing and a headset -- expand the career exploration and storytelling fun.

Battery Required: No
Assembly Required: No
Warranty: Yes
Age Grade: 3+
Country of Origin: CN

She sounds pretty cool! If I still collected Barbies, I would totally have to have her!

Mattel isn't only Barbie, but is also American Girl. My thought was that maybe they will make a geek Girl of The Year doll! Wouldn't that be awesome! The GOTY's are supposed to be the modern day dolls, and I think they have had plenty of repetitive themes. There has been 3 island dolls and 3 dance/gymnastics dolls. A lot of girls these days are into geeky things such as game designing, code, blog designing, and many more!

If they come out with a geek GOTY doll, I told my mom that I need her whole collection!

What do you think about a GOTY geek doll?

Summer Giveaway with RiaJoysBoutique!

Hey everyone!

Guess what time it is?

Giveaway time!

Connie from RiaJoysBoutique graciously sent me an outfit to review and giveaway! Thank you Connie!

Here is the outfit wrapped up!

Here it is! I decided that Grace would be a lovely model!

Here is a closer look at the dress. I felt that the neck was a little low, but I added a cute little pearl necklace (*please note that it is not included.*)

This is the print of the lower part of the dress. Isn't it a wonderful mix of colors?

This is the print of the top part of the dress. It is also quite pretty!

When the two different parts of the dress meets, there is a cute little button flower.

That button matches these three little button at the bottom of the dress. I love the ruffle trim around the dress! It is the same pattern as the top.

The straps are an adorable ribbon with a cute design on it.

The dress is easy to put on and take off with velcro on the back. (I love the bokeh in this photo!)

Right on the inside of the velcro is the shop's tag.

Along with the dress comes this matching headband! The headband is the same pattern as the top part of the dress.

The headband also has three little flower buttons on it!

The headband is stretchy and very easy to slip over the doll's hair and style.

Here are some bonus photos to show how photogenic this cute summer dress is!

Happy Fourth of July + A Photostory!

Happy Fourth of July!

Today, I put together an Independence Day themed photostory.

Starring:

Maryellen
Emily
Grace
Sophie
Jack

I hope you enjoy reading the story!

"Emily, would you please come over here and help set up the table!" Maryellen shouts at Emily, her younger sister. Maryellen waits for a reply while she carefully fills each cup with ice-cold lemonade.

"Ugh" Emily groans. She turns her head toward the table. "Looks like it is already done!" "Come anyway and see how it looks then" Maryellen responded.

"Okay, I'm coming" Emily started walking toward the table of goodies.

"Wow Maryellen! This looks wonderful!" Emily complimented. "Thanks Emily! Now, I wonder who will be arriving first?" Maryellen pondered.

"Well, it looks like...Cecile!" Emily exclaimed. "Yay, someone has arrived!" Maryellen quickly announced.

"Hey guys! What's up?" Cecile greeted.

"How have you been?" Emily asked Cecile. "Good! I can't believe we haven't seen each other since the end of school!" Cecile replied. "Same! I know right! It's been awhile." Emily led Cecile over to the table.

As soon as Cecile got situated, the three girls looked over to see another guest was heading over. "Grace is here guys" Cecile exclaimed.

Maryellen rushed over to Grace. "Grace!" Maryellen squealed. "Hey Maryellen" Grace replied. The two girls hugged each other.

Not long after Grace arrived, Sophie and her little brother Jack came. "Hi everyone!" Jack giggled. "Awww!" Maryellen, Emily, Cecile, and Grace just adored Sophie's little brother. "Now that everyone is here, let's go eat." Emily suggested.

Everyone gathered around the table. "Mmmm! I can tell this pizza is from Dolly Diner." Sophie said as she licked her lips. "Can we make s'mores now?" Jack nagged. "Yep! The supplies are over here." Emily replied.

As Sophie helped Jack with roasting his marshmallows, the other girls gathered around to watch him. "He's adorable!" Grace giggled.

"Sophie, are my marshmallows done?" Jack asked while examining his stick. "Yes dear. Let's go ahead and make your s'more and let others roast some mallows." Sophie replied sweetly. She led Jack to the table and helped him put his s'more together.

"Guys, I need a group photo before anyone leaves!" Maryellen commanded. Maryellen set up her camera on timer and quickly jumped into the photo.

The end!

I hope you all enjoyed reading my photostory!

Now, I have a few bonus photos to share with you all!
